Throwback Treasures: Pras "Ghetto Superstar"

I always felt bad for Pras; the same way I felt bad for Beyonce's backup singers...I mean the other 2 members of Destiny's Child. He was talented but could never quite step out from behind Lauryn andWyclef's shadows. His solo debut in '98 actually was a club banger (Ghetto Superstar whose single of the the same title was featured in Bulworth staring Halle Berry and Warren Beatty) and was expected to go far. Then...the new millenInium happened. I thought his career had resurrected in '05 with the release of Win Lose or Draw...wrong again. Personally, I liked "Haven't Found", not enough to buy the ENTIRE album but still... In 2008 he launched a website, www.platinumbrand.com, that according to its mission statement it's "a global provider of video solutions and services. Our channels broadcast interactive music, film and video productions to enlighten and entertain our viewers." Hopefully that works out for him.

YOyoyo what's good cyboys and cybergirls it's ya boi KB reporting live from tha HILL. Today i got that new Melanie Fiona video for that ass. I must make it known that i LOVE HER WITH ALL MY HEART and im alittle saddened that she is not really doing that well here in the states, over seas tho, people love her as much as me. ANYWHOOO these are the visuals for her song BANG BANG which is one of my favorite tracks of her album THE BRIDGE [which is available now in stores, itunes and right here on BVR] entitled BANG BANG!!!

This video is uber sexy in my opinion... check it out and let me know what you think...

The Connect: Rated R

Yoyoyo flybois and cybergirls, it's ya boi KB bringin' you THE CONNECT ...WHAT IS THAT?!? welp that is where we here at BVR hook you up with that free good ish...or maybe you wont like it. who knows. but we promised you free things and have been slacking... so here you go.

This time around we got little miss sunshine, who now is a little darker than before. Rihanna and ROC nation worked hard on putting out this new, edgy, dark, warrior image for the girl mr. graffiti battered and bruised. Im not gonna lie, was never really a fan of Rihanna [yet she was looking damn good in SHUT UP AND DRIVE THO!!!]... but this new her... i think i like. she's grown and artsy, just the way i like my women. she is taking risks and tho i dont agree with all of them, i ain't gonna knock her hustle. Raterd R is a 13 track cinematic ride that makes her sound like she can sing pretty ok... well enough talking, let me hook you up.

Rihanna - Rated R [click me]

Well...i guess i should also show you these dope ass visuals for her lead single Russian Roulette. This is a dope video, but is mos def rated R...

New Chris Brown

"Crawl"...I know it has NOTHING to do with degrading women...but whenever I hear the title I just automatically assume this was something he forced Rihanna to do. There's so much wrong with this video, though it's an upgrade from "Transform Ya!" I guess he's trying, and that's all that matters, right? But seriously...those glasses have GOT to go. Thanks to him, now I think Urkel is a woman beater.

HOT OR NOT:Kid Sister

You know what fascinates me more than people's obsession with equestrian boots? Two hit wonders. They were those C students that could have EASILY done better if they just applied themselves. Case in point is Kid Sister. This Chicago native was going places back in 08. She had the very modest Kanye West on her debut single "Pro Nails", she was a signed artist (Downtown Records), and she was nominated for BET's Best Female Hip Hop Artist (granted that's probably not something to toot your own horn about but still it's something to hum to). All of this and BAM...she disappears. But not for long. She is back with a new look, a debut album, and a video to her debut single, "Right Hand Hi." It seems as though she might just make it.

Then I saw her video...ehhhhhhhh.

Well in all fairness I'm going to let ya'll decide if 2010 will be this sister's year or if she still needs time to grow up.

Ultraviolet drops this Tuesday, though I have a strange feeling that it's going to get pushed to a later date...

Jim Jones Redeems Himself On New Collabo

What's good my happenin' folks? So I have been having issues with Jim Jones. I want to like him but it's hard since I'm a fan of hygiene. And then he comes out of no where and slaps me in the face with some real hip hop. Here's the new video to "Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)" featuring him and Mos Def. It's going to be on the upcoming collaboration album Blakroc from the Ohio based rock duo The Black Keys which drops November 27th. What's REAL surprising is the fact that Dame Dash is funding all of this. I would have expected Hov to have been the mastermind behind this. Oh well...till the next all nighter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Good bye social life and hello to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It is the sequel to one of the best FPS of all time. Below is the launch trailer for the game. How is it relevant to Blue Vinyl? It has Eminem in the background. Duh.

See you on the battlefield.

Throwback Treasures: Jonell "Round and Round Rmx"

Nothing grinds my gears more than a one-hit wonder who should have at least had been a two-hit wonder. Perfect example is Jonell. She came on the scene in 2001 with "Round & Round" but it was the remix featuring Method Man that ended up on the How High soundtrack that was the commercial success. I really don't know what happened to her. It seems as though she's fallen off the face of the earth. Crossing my fingers that 2010 brings a comeback album for this woman or at least a spot on a mixtape featuring Drake. SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Till next time.

FYI: She's from the Natti (Cincinnati) so I know Kate loves her.

New Lupe Mixtape? [*Update: YES*]

Now... i know most of the world isn't as big Lupe fans as some of us here at BVR... but that's not my problem...

anywho, on Lupe's Twitter he alluded to the fact that he's coming out with a new mixtape. i wish i had enough energy to follow him on twitter and keep up on the status of this... well... i guess i can try and keep you guys posted.

**UPDATE!**
So, not only has this been definitely confirmed, but after a recent live performance, Lupe announces after a freestyle that he'll drop a new mixtape, Fahrenheit 1/15 Part VI on November 25th. So... stay tuned for The Connect right here on Blue Vinyl!

Making Noise With Noisettes

Hey all you annoying healthy people. So I've been living on the net even more now that I'm on Death Row. Here's the latest video from the indie rock band Noisettes. The engelic voice you hear is brought to you by Shingai Shoniwa who is of both British and Zimbabwean decent. Diva not only sings but plays the bass and rocks the best natural I've ever seen. Here is the video to "Every Now And Then" probably my FAVORITE love song of 2009. It's off of their sophomore album Wild Young Hearts which is out so go and COP!
